The team led by Guillem Cabestany beat Riba d’Ave (6-3), at Dragão Caixa, achieving the 8th title in the last three years

This Wednesday, FC Porto Fidelidade won the National Championship in roller hockey, the 23rd in the history of the club. The team led by Guillem Cabestany beat Riba d’Ave at Dragão Caixa (6-3), for matchday 24, and sealed the title with one match left to play.

The blue and white fans are celebrating the 8th trophy won in the last three years, a formidable cycle under the lead of the Catalan coach, started on June 19, 2016, with the victory over the final of the Portuguese Cup, against Benfica. Riba d’Ave was again the team FC Porto Fidelidade faced in the confirmation match, just like in the 2017 championship.

Tonight, supported by a Blue Sea, the blue and whites had to remain focused and manage emotions to face a complicated obstacle. The opponent was able to keep the minimum advantage on the scoreboard, aiming at replying to every attempt from the Dragons to take the lead.

Rafa, Giulio Cocco, Poka and Gonçalo Alves scored in the first-half, but Riba d’Ave never gave up and made it 4-3 in the second-half. Cocco scored his second shortly after and Reinaldo García se the final score 45 minutes in.

It should be reminded that the handball team of FC Porto won the title yesterday, in Madeira, and were at Dragão Caixa to support the roller hockey team, receiving a tremendous ovation from the fans at halftime.

For the last matchday of the National Championship, again at Dragão Caixa, FC Porto Fidelidade will face Turquel (Saturday, 15h00).
