Dick Jaspers reached the lead in the podium on the 4th stage of the World Cup in 3-Cushion billiards, which was held at the Dragão Arena. The FC Porto player beat Haeng Kim in the final (40-36) in the final held this Sunday.

Under the close eye of chairman Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, the number one in the world started the match on top and reached the break with an advantage of nine caroms, after achieved eight in a row. In the second-half, Haeng Kim recovered on the scoreboard and even took the lead, but the experience of Dick Jaspers was decisive for the victory.

The blue and white player joins tayfan Tasdemir, Frédéric Caudron and Javier Balazon in the list of winners in this edition of the World Cup. For Dick Jaspers, this was his 25th victory in the competition. The fifth stage is played in October, from 20 to 26, in Veghel, Netherlands.

Winning at home
"I’m happy to have won in Porto, as I play for FC Porto. It adds a special flavour to the victory. This is the third stage of the World Cup that I win here, and it’s always fantastic. The competition is getting stronger, there were some matches where I could have been eliminated, but I always believed in me, and that kept me in the competition."

"It was my 25th victory in the World Cup. It’s a special number for me. In the three previous stages of the World Cup, I wasn’t at my best, but this victory, along with the European championship, make this year successful."

Challenging path
"The final was very exciting, but the semi-final was the hardest, as it went into penalties. The match against Leppens, in the Round of 16, was also complicated. That might have been the hardest match, as I was pretty much eliminated, but was able to recover. I’m going home happy, it’s a wonderful feeling."
