FC Porto tied against Belenenses, 1-1, for matchday 13 of Liga NOS

This Sunday, FC Porto tied against Belenenses (1-1), at Estádio do Jamor, for matchday 13 of Liga NOS. Alex Telles (32m), in a penalty, scored the goal for the blue and whites, who are second in the table, with 32 points, four behind Benfica.

With a strong and pressing start, FC Porto didn’t take long to push Belenenses back, and the first dangerous play came from a recovery right outside of the opposing area. Completely against the tide of the match, given the clear dominance shown by the Dragons, Belenenses got ahead of the scoreboard thanks to André Santos, who beat Marchesín with a shot from outside the area, after a clearance from Marcano (14m). Still, there seems to be a hand on the ball at the start of the play.

FC Porto didn’t take long to react to the unfair result and celebrated the tie with a goal scored by Loum, but the VAR signalled the offside to Danilo (20m). In another rare attack, Belenenses almost made it 2-0, with Licá, but Marchesín saved it in style (29m). The unfairness of the result became a little less obvious shortly after, when Tiago Esgaio tackled Corona in the area: called to the penalty spot, Alex Telles made it count (32m).

The second-half wasn’t as exciting as the first, but FC Porto still had the best opportunities to score. In a free-kick, Sérgio Oliveira had Koffi pus the shot at the post (81m), but the inspiration of the opposing goalkeeper didn’t end there, as he also prevented Zé Luis from scoring on two situations (86m and 90+1m). FC Porto did everything they could to win the match, but ended up losing two points in Jamor.
