Sérgio Conceição praised the performance of the team against Vitória de Setúbal (4-0), for matchday 19 of Liga NOS

After the victory at Estádio do Bonfim, against Vitória de Setúbal, 4-0, for matchday 19 of the championship, Sérgio Conceição was pleased with the attitude shown by his players, pointing out that “the result shows the work done”.

Analysis to the victory
“It was a good match from my team. We controlled the match from start to finish. A lot of movement and availability to hold the ball throughout the match. We changed our strategy a few times, as we had to analyse and adjust our team. The score shows all our work and all that I’m saying. We had prepared the team for Vitória de Setúbal, who has been doing great in the national championship lately.”

Two consecutive victories
“The defensive consistency has to do with the defensive process of the team. Sometimes, we tend to only look at the defence, but that’s not how it works, every player is important, even if they don’t have the ball. There are always things to improve, as each match brings us different problems and situations we want to fix. Each match helps us correct our mistakes, be better, and be consistent on the defence. We keep an eye on the goals we concede, we realise our mistakes and we work on those. We also work on what we do well, and I think we did many good things tonight.”

The classic on February 8
“The match against Académico de Viseu is important and is coming on Tuesday.”

Luis Díaz
“He played a good match. I think he found his space tonight. I allowed it to happen: by placing Otávio in the middle, Luís moved to the wings, so he could force one on one situations, one of his weapons. I believe he already scored 11 goals this season, he is 22, and he arrived in Europe this year. We believe in him, he has been evolving, and he is having a great start here in Europe. We trust his quality and we are happy for him, whether he plays from the start or only 20 minutes.”
