"I want to enjoy the moment, but always thinking of winning"

152 matches for FC Porto, national and international titles, and a love for the club that didn’t end with his career. José Bosingwa is another one of the players called to play for FC Porto Vintage in the match against Real Madrid Leyendas, on March 29 (11h00 GMT), at Santiago Bernabéu, in Madrid.

He debuted for FC Porto on matchday 1 of the 2003/04 League, a Golden season, thanks to the victory over the UEFA Champions League, in Gelsenkirchen. He started by being a versatile player, useful in several positions: winger, midfielder, fullback. This last position earned him a spot in the starting team and turned him into one of the best right fullbacks in the history of FC Porto.

Bosingwa will be returning to Santiago Bernabéu, where he played in 2003, for FC Porto, on the way to the final of the Champions League. “We tied 1-1 at the time. It was raining heavily in that match. Both teams were already qualified, but we had lost at Estádio das Antas and we wanted to leave a different image. We tied there. We were great on that evening, and even deserved to win”, the former player remembered.

The motivation is different now, but the desire to win is still there: “When you wear this shirt, the expectation is always that you win. I want to enjoy the moment, but always thinking of winning.”

The words show the winning spirit of a collector of titles. Two Champions Leagues (FC Porto and Chelsea), one Intercontinental Cup and five championships, between Portugal and England, among other titles.

“I am deeply proud and happy to wear this shirt again and to remember the time when I was at FC Porto. Those were five great years. I will also join friends with whom I shared a locker room, which is also nice”, Bosingwa concluded.

Lastly, Bosingwa praised the solidarity behind the match. “It’s always important when, in a way, your participation helps”.

The tickets for the match cost 5 Euros and may be purchased at www.entradas.com. The revenues of the match will be used to help children that are under the scope of the projects for social inclusion of Foundation Real Madrid, spread through all continents.
