FC Porto signalled the return home with a well-deserved victory over Rio Ave (2-0). More than two weeks later, the national champions returned to Estádio do Dragão and won, thanks to the accuracy of Luis Díaz and Evanilson. After getting three more important points for the fight for the title, MVP Mehdi Taremi praised the “great goal” done by the blue and whites, in a “special” match, as the forward faced his old team. For Evanilson, the man who scored the second goal of the evening, the Dragons created “many opportunities”, but “wasted” them, unfortunately. As for Luis Díaz - winner of the Mérito e Valores Porto Award [Merit and Values] -, the winger congratulated the team: “We played a great match, we ran and we believe in ourselves”.

"We did a great job. It was important to win and we did just that. We had many opportunities to score, even though we missed them, but we played a great match, overall. It was a special match for me, I still have friends at Rio Ave, from last year. I had some good times there, but now I’m with FC Porto. The mentality of the team is to always be together, be it on the attack or the defence. I will do everything for the team, and if I’m lucky to score, great. We don’t care about what happens in other matches. Our matches are all that we care about. We have to win them so we can become champions in the end.”

Evanilson
“I’m happy for doing my job, and for helping the team win again. That’s what matters the most, and we need to keep working to reach our objectives. Rio Ave gave us a lot of work tonight, they have quality. It was a difficult match, we created many opportunities, and we missed some, sadly. But I’m happy to go in and help my team. It was a good move for Taremi, he passed me the ball and I want to thank him for that. After the pandemic is over, I’ll treat him to dinner. We are going to play many matches this month, but the team is prepared. We work hard every day, there will always be difficulties, but we need to be well and overcome ourselves.”

Luis Díaz
“My feeling after scoring was joy. It really motivates you, to score, as it helps the team and your teammates. We played a great match, we ran and we believed. We tried to do everything right, so congratulations to the team. It’s important to have your teammates motivate you to score goals. You raise your head and that’s vital. We only think of ourselves, we played our match. That’s what matters, we did what we wanted to do. The team is feeling well, and everyone is prepared to give it all. Those who go in will help, we know that, so now we need to recover properly.”
