Toni Martínez promises a FC Porto fighting until the end of the championship

FC Porto needed 95 minutes to beat Santa Clara (2-1). On Easter’s Eve, Estádio do Dragão was the stage of a difficult match against the team from the Azores, a match the Dragons ended up winning 2-1 in stoppage time. Just minutes after sealing a match that seemed to want to end in a tie, Toni Martínez praised the “work of the team”, as everyone believed “until the end” in getting what “really mattered, the three points”. On his turn, Fábio Vieira praised the “spirit” of the team, in a match that had “little time” to prepare” and that demanded a “strong group”.

Toni Martínez
“This is the result of team work. I go in to help and give everything I have, be it for one or ten minutes, or even thirty seconds. We went in tonight, with a firm belief. This is FC Porto. It wasn’t a great match from our part, I feel that has to do with national duty, as we didn’t have much time to train together or to prepare for the match. What mattered was getting the three points, which we believe will be extremely important before the end. Every match counts, we can’t lose more points in the League. We will fight until the last match. It starts tonight and there are more finals. I am happy to contribute with goals, which I feel is my biggest asset. I want to praise my teammates as well, as I’m only here to help from day one. I’ll help with anything, I was able to do it tonight, and now we need to keep believing.”

Fábio Vieira
“These are three important points. This was an extremely difficult match, we had been warned about it, but we have to praise the spirit of the team. We believed until the end, we have a strong group and we earned three more points, which is all that matters. We didn’t have much time to prepare for the match, but we have confidence in our work, in our team, in our quality, and we managed to win in the end. Again, we have to praise the spirit of our team. Now we just have to enjoy this victory, as it meant another three important points for our main objective, the championship, and then start thinking of Chelsea. This will be a great match, against a great team, and we will do our best to win.”
