North American forward moves to the B team on a loan from Norwich

The first signing for the B team was born in the United States of America, but comes to Porto from England. 20 years old, Sebastian Soto joins the blue and white B team on a loan from Norwich, for one season, with a release option. The new number 79 of the Dragons has two caps and two goals for the main national North American team, having played for the USA in the Under20 World Cup. In that World Cup, held in 2019, the 1.83 meters tall forward scored four goals in five matches, beaten in the list of top scorer only by Erling Haaland.

Trained at Real Salt Lake, the forward - who has a second nationality, Chilean - got to Europe in 2018 to play for the German team Hannover 96. In the summer of 2020, he was signed by Norwich and loaned to Telstar, from Holland, returning halfway through the 2020/21 season. During his first statement as a Dragon, Sebastian Soto admitted he was “very proud” and aware of the “great honour” that is playing for FC Porto, “a club with a great history”.

Pride and honour
“I am very proud. It is a great honour to be here and I am ready to fight for this club.”

Ready for the big challenge
“Playing for a club with this much history and this many fans is a big challenge. If will be challenging, but I am fully ready.”

Objective is to reach the main squad
“I want to score many goals for the B team and prove that I am ready to move on to the A team. I want to leave my mark.”
