Pepê scored his first and Taremi and Luis Díaz scored two each in the victory over Moreirense (5-0)

FC Porto beat Moreirense (5-0) at home, for matchday six of the League. Thanks to a great performance, especially in the second-half, Taremi and Luis Díaz scored two each and Pepê scored his first for the blue and whites.

For matchday six of the League, FC Porto started with four youngsters in the starting team, one of which was Diogo Costa, on his 22nd birthday. After ten minutes of balance, with Moreirense trying to look for any opening to get close to the blue and white goal, FC Porto took control of the match, as Sérgio Conceição had asked for at the press conference before the match, and started attacking. 14 minutes in, Luis Díaz, ready to go alone straight at Pasinato, was tackled by Paulinho, preventing him from continuing towards the area, but the referee ignored it. 31 minutes in, Taremi, about to control the ball in the area to try to shoot for goal, was tackled by Paulinho. Referee António Nobre signalled a penalty and the Iranian didn’t hesitate in front of the Brazilian goalkeeper. The scoreboard was open and the advantage was blue and white. Until halftime, Taremi still had another goal opportunity, which started to be built on the other end of the pitch, by Diogo Costa, with a long kick to get on the attack fast, but the shot of the Iranian was deflected by the opposing defence. The whistle signalled the end of the 45 minutes and FC Porto was in the lead for the second-half.

The Dragons went in for the second-half at full speed and, 51 minutes in, they increased the advantage on the scoreboard. After a bad clearance, Fábio Vieira recovered the ball and assisted Luis Díaz for his first goal of the night. After Taremi had his goal disallowed 56 minutes in following a quick blue and white counter, the same play and duo that created the second goal was enough for the third goal against Moreirense: Fábio Vieira moved up fast with the ball on his feet, found Luis Díaz, an arrow on the left side, and the winger, as is becoming usual, scored again in the match. Taremi also scored another goal, 71 minutes in, taking advantage of Pasinato’s incomplete save to Vitinha’s shot and, in style, lobbed the goalkeeper into the back of the net for the fourth goal in the match. Fábio Vieira was also making a name for himself in the match and, 77 minutes in, made his third assist and gave Pepê his first goal for the Dragons. It was the end of an effective and spectacular performance from Sérgio Conceição’s team in front of a stadium carrying the enthusiasm of the Porto Nation.

Next Friday, FC Porto travels to Barcelos to face Gil Vicente for matchday seven of the national championship (Friday, September 24, 21h15).
