FC Porto beat Paços de Ferreira (2-1) for matchday eight of the League
FC Porto beat Paços de Ferreira (2-1) for matchday eight of the league. After the end of the match, Luis Díaz, named man of the match by the League, thanked “another award” and showed his satisfaction for the team having shown that they want to “do great things this season”. Wendell, who was distinguished with the Porto Merit and Values Award, said the team played “a great match”, adding: “If we face all matches like today, we will be successful, we will be tough to face in the League and in the Champions League too”. Francisco Conceição also gave his opinion on the victory, praising the “strong response” that the team gave, and stated: “We are very strong and we will continue like this”.
“I want to say thank you for another award. I want to praise what the group did, as I wouldn’t be able to do it without them; I’m very happy because we went in to show that we want to do great things this season.”
“It was more than fair for what FC Porto showed, for what the coach asked for, and we tried to play with a lot of ball possession; we had a lot of shots and scored. Now, those who are staying will rest and those who are going to the national squads should come back with the same spirit we had today. Against Liverpool, it wasn’t the match we expected, it wasn’t the match we played today, but we motivated ourselves, we came here and we played a great match; if we face all matches like today, we will be successful, we will be tough to face in the League and in the Champions League as well. Every day I feel more and more at home, the fans give me that warmth, they allow me to show myself, and I just have to thank all the staff for making me feel so comfortable. This makes me even happier and, not just me, the whole group is going to give their best this season. We have to work every day on the edge, we are not always in the starting team, but we have to be motivated every day. That’s the most important thing, and I’m sure that everyone is motivated and working very hard. I felt a bit sore in my muscles, but I have time to recover and help FC Porto in every match.”
“I felt very well, the team has been helping me and we played a great match. The result is short for what we did, but the victory suits us well. We will keep working with this spirit. We weren’t so good in terms of finishing, but we are proud of what we did and we have to keep working. We gave a very strong response, we left what happened in the past, and now we have to think about the future; we are very strong and we will continue like this. The objective was to continue what we did in the first-half, we knew that sooner or later the second goal would come.”
