FC Porto players praised the team’s reaction to the goal conceded in the victory over Vitória de Guimarães (2-1)

FC Porto is back in the lead of the Portugal Bwin League after beating Vitória de Guimarães (2-1), at Estádio do Dragão, for matchday 12 the competition. After the match, Matheus Uribe, Luis Díaz and Evanilson praised the way the blue and whites overcame Vitória, adding three more important points for the fight for the title. The blue and white footballers took the opportunity to dedicate the victory to Vítor Santos, the bus driver of the team, who is living a difficult personal moment.

Matheus Uribe
“I want to dedicate this victory to our friend Vítor Santos, who is going through a very difficult time. We are with him. We knew it was going to be a very difficult match, as Vitória de Guimarães has an excellent team. We reacted to the difficulties well and had chances to score more goals, but the most important thing was the three points. We showed FC Porto’s identity and we turned the score around. Even with an extra player, we always gave everything as we were facing an excellent opponent. It was important to win at home. This is a team of very professional players, and that goes for those who play more often or for those who await their chance. Everyone gives everything to help the team and the work we do every day is fundamental for that. The team has a well-established playing identity.”

Luis Díaz
“We knew it was going to be a very difficult match because of the quality of the opponent, which we already know. We reacted well to the goal we conceded and, in the second-half, we completely dominated, we deserved to win. It was very important to win this match and I’m very happy to have helped the team. I want to send a hug to Vítor Santos, who is going through a difficult moment.”

Evanilson
“First of all, I wish Vítor Santos all the strength in the world. It was a very difficult match, but we already knew it would be like this because Vitória de Guimarães has an excellent team. Fortunately, we managed to turn things around after we conceded the goal and got another win, which is what we wanted. I’m happy to have helped the team with a goal and I’ll keep working so I can contribute to our success. The team continues to play well and things come naturally.”
