A worthy FC Porto, now alone in the lead, turned the scoreboard around (3-2) and beat Estoril away, after being behind by 2-0

FC Porto is alone in the lead of the championship. For this, the brave Dragons went to the South of the country to beat Estoril in an absolutely epic match that ended 2-3, after the team from Porto conceded two goals. Mehdi Taremi, Luis Díaz and Francisco Conceição were the heroes in the blue and white turnaround, achieved close to the final whistle and celebrated effusively. As it had to be.

The blue and white start was regretful. Without any real danger close to either goal in the first 15 minutes, Taremi failed to score following an attempt from Luis Díaz and, shortly after, a long pass from Mbemba created the first opportunity for FC Porto – a long shot from the Colombian was deflected. As driven as always, the Cafetero international star forced the home goalkeeper to a good save before the 30 minutes mark. Seven minutes before the break, a home player again found space to get the ball and shoot on the left: the shot was deflected and lobbed Diogo Costa, out of luck (1-0). Almost on the next attack, Wendell tackled an opponent inside the area. In the penalty, the shot went to one side, Diogo Costa to the other and Estoril made it 2-0.

Whatever Sérgio Conceição said to the team during the break, worked wonders. With a new attitude, the eleven Dragons returned for the second-half determined to turn the score around. So much so that, 50 minutes in, Taremi scored in a follow-up move that paid off. 60 minutes in, Vítor Ferreira beautiful free-kick would have been a serious contender to goal of the year 2022. With Pepê, Fábio Vieira and Toni Martínez already on the pitch, and five minutes before the 90 minutes mark, Luis Díaz (who else?) tied the match. But one point was not enough, and FC Porto’s coach replaced Fábio Cardoso for Francisco Conceição, and moved Matheus Uribe back. Like a lucky charm, the number 10 made the Porto Nation jump in celebration in stoppage time. The play came again from the left wing and “Chico” was there to shoot for goal. The 19 year old, in a volley with his left foot, shot with power and not even the bar stopped the third goal for the blue and whites, who made the best of the defeat Sporting conceded in the Azores, leaving the Dragons with an advantage of three points at top of the league table. Before the start of the second turn, at Jamor, there is still a match for the Portuguese Cup to play, in Vizela (Wednesday, 20h45).
