Mehdi Taremi and Mbemba talked of the difficulty of the victory over Vizela (4-2), but FC Porto only thinks about becoming champions
After the victory over Vizela (4-2), in matchday 32 of the League, Mehdi Taremi and Chancel Mbemba - the scorers of three of the four goals in the match - talked of the difficulties the opponent caused. The number 9, named man of the match by the League, explained that “it was a tough match” and stated that “when you are in first place, it is difficult to keep it”. The central defender, who received the Merit and Values Porto award, shared the same idea of “a tough match” and reminded that “every match is decisive”: “There are two matches left and we have to give everything, against Benfica it won’t be easy, but we will do everything to get the checkmate”. Eustaquio, who went in during the second-half, also looked at next week’s classic, stating that the group wants to “win in Luz” and that “the most important thing is for FC Porto to become champions, no matter where it happens”, an idea with which Wendell agreed: “I hope we can do what we have been doing during the whole season and become champions”.
Mbemba
“It was a difficult match, the goal I scored was important to help the team, and it was the best goal I have scored in my career, so thank you to the president and to the team. As the coach said, every match is decisive. There are two matches left and we have to give everything, against Benfica it won’t be easy, but the will do everything to get checkmate.”
Wendell
“It was a difficult match. We started very well, managed to score two goals and then we dropped back a little bit. Thankfully, Chancel scored and we managed to win, which was the most important thing. We were playing at home, with a full stadium supporting us and, unfortunately, we conceded two goals and had to get back into the match. We managed to do it because we work at our maximum on a daily basis. We have two more matches, we can become champions next weekend, so we hope to play a great match next Saturday and win the title. We know it’s a classic, it’s different, but we take it seriously like with every match, we are going to play to win. I hope we can do what we have been doing throughout the championship and become champions.”
Eustaquio
“Vizela is a good team, they have a very positive football, we know they have tremendous quality, both individually and as a team. They ended the first-half better, but we, as a big club, went for it and won the match. I felt good energy on the pitch, we want to win at Estádio da Luz and that’s what we’ll work for. The feeling in the locker room is that we are missing three points and then, against Estoril, we are missing three more points. All classics are important, but the most important thing is for FC Porto to become champion, wherever it is.”
Mehdi Taremi
“Thank you for the award. It was a tough match because, when you are in first place, it is difficult to keep it, even more so than second or third. We played very well and fortunately we won the match.”
