André Franco, Fábio Cardoso and Matheus Uribe talked for the team after the match FC Porto - GD Chaves (3-0)

It started by looking easy, then seemed it would be difficult, but the victory of the national champions over the opponent recently promoted to the main division ended comfortably (3-0). At the end of the match won over Desportivo de Chaves, André Franco talked about a “very important result” after an “unfair” defeat in Madrid, while Fábio Cardoso was “very happy” for “the clean sheet” and Matheus Uribe considered the “team work” as “admirable”, enough to “keep the respect” for Estádio do Dragão.

André Franco
“I’m very happy, feeling the warmth of the fans and scoring my first goal in my first match at Estádio do Dragão was very nice. I think it’s worth praising the effort of the entire team and getting three important points for us. It was a moment when, instead of celebrating effusively, I remembered everything about my career until I got here. Now we have to work and enjoy FC Porto to achieve our goals. Chaves deserves the recognition they have, they are doing a great championship, but we managed to be better and we played well. It was a very important result after a defeat in Madrid that was a bit unfair. We’re done for today and now we have another match to win on Tuesday.”

Fábio Cardoso
“Personal confidence is gained every day with training and it’s about continuing to do the same. We have a squad full of quality, especially in my position, so I have to keep working and giving my best. I’m very happy that we got the three points and kept a clean sheet. Chaves is a team with a lot of quality, well-organised, with good players, and they have been showing that this year. We started well, stayed strong for the full 90 minutes and we know that, when we are not so good, we have to regroup to get back to the high intensity we enjoy. Regardless of who plays, everyone is aware that you have to give it all. The decisions on who plays are up to the coach, whoever goes in has to give it all, we all work hard and we deserve it.”

Matheus Uribe
“The teamwork was admirable. We went in with some changes in the team, but the work that the whole group does allows us to compensate for the absences by playing against a good opponent with good players. We took the opportunities we created, it was important to keep the respect for our home and get the three points. No defeat is good, but we have to learn from them and take the positive to correct mistakes. We are fighting for every competition we play in, we work very well with this coaching staff and we gave a good display that everyone can play. Wearing the captain’s armband at this club is significantly important and a big responsibility. We know the hierarchy and what it means for everyone to be the captain, but the team responded well and played a great match. This home with our people and this support is very important and different for us. We are prepared for this schedule, we did a great pre-season and now we just have to be professional, recover with the tools we have at Olival to play every three days. We have a squad with quality players who can help at any moment.”
