Dragons beat Chaves, 3-0, for matchday six of the Portuguese League

21 days later, FC Porto returned to Estádio do Dragão to welcome and beat Chaves 3-0, the same score they reached against Sporting in the last match played there. After the untimely defeat in Madrid, Taremi, Evanilson and Franco, his first goal for the Dragons, were the men of the hour in Porto.

The blue and whites took the the pitch with four new faces in the team at Estádio do Dragão to face Chaves. Wendell, Fábio Cardoso, Toni Martínez and João Mário started and the last two had immediate impact in the play that ended in Mehdi Taremi’s goal (3m). The number 23 won the ball on the right and crossed, the number 29 won the header on the near post and the ball ended in the Iranian forward, who headed it in.

Taremi and Galeno were the most dangerous players in the first 45 minutes. After the goal, the number 9 cut inside from the left and placed the ball away from Paulo Vítor, but it went past both posts and continued towards the side-line. 11 minutes in, it was time for the winger to take the shot for a good save for the opposing goalkeeper, and, 22 minutes in, he moved in from the left and tried to shot at the near post, but the shot saved into a corner-kick. One goal lead at halftime, but with a superiority capable of making a dent in the second-half (1-0).

The start of the second-half was played at slow pace, without any danger created near the goals, with the second goal coming just before the last 20 minutes of the match. Taremi stole a pass high on the pitch, took the ball to the area and, when Paulo Vítor left the goal, passed to Evanilson, who only had to put the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Minute 81 had debuts for the Dragons. Veron passed to Evanilson and did his first assistance with a great cross for André Franco to score his first goal. There was still time for Rodrigo Conceição to play his first minutes for the main blue and white team before António Nobre signalled the end of the match (3-0).
