Sérgio Conceição praised the attitude of the national champions after the victory over Anadia (6-0)

FC Porto qualified without much difficulty for the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup after winning this Sunday in Anadia, 6-0, in a match where, according to Sérgio Conceição, “the players with less playing time gave an excellent response”. “Confidence is gained on a daily basis. There are matches that can go well, others less well. The most important thing is the daily work and the way you behave at the club. In that sense, I have to congratulate everyone”, the blue and white coach stated.

The resume of the match
“There were many positive things in the match, but not everything was perfect. We played a competent and serious match, in which the players with less playing time gave an excellent response. We are happy, congratulations to the players, but it was our obligation to qualify.”

Whoever plays, gives a good response
“Confidence is won every day. There are matches that can go well, others not so well. The most important thing is the daily work and the way you behave at the club. In that regard, I have to congratulate everyone. Whoever plays, always gives a good response and today it was the same. We are happy with the daily work and the match is a consequence of that work.”

Next is the classic against Benfica
“Now we will look at this match and analyse it the best we can, to look at what went less well, because there are situations where we weren’t so good. After that, we’ll think about the next matches, which are difficult, but it’s part of our life.”

Gabriel Veron’s performance
“We work to allow the players to grow and evolve, but the players also have to help in that sense. Pepê and Veron’s context was different and so was the setting, because, in my opinion, here we are stricter and more demanding, even with the players’ lives outside the club. You need time to adapt and then there’s the player’s own development on the pitch. I try to be a little demanding tactically with Veron because he still lacks a few things. That takes time and it’s absolutely normal, but he’s intelligent, perceptive and he has plenty of quality. He’s fast, has technique, finishes well and has everything to succeed in our football.”

A return (home) that is always special
“I have a great affection for these people. I’ve had a house here for many years, my children played here and I’m happy to return, but it was a match I really wanted to win. I’m happy to have returned to this location and that we won the match.”
