Danny Namaso, Otávio and Toni Martínez scored the goal in the victory in Chaves (3-1), for matchday 23 of the League
This Saturday, FC Porto beat Chaves, 3-1, for matchday 23 of the championship. Danny Namaso (15m), Otávio (43m) and Toni Martínez (90m+6) were the scorers for the Dragons, who remain second in the table, now with 54 points, eight behind Benfica, the leader.
With five new faces in the starting team, FC Porto almost took the lead seven minutes in, when André Franco, receiving the pass from Zaidu in the heart of the area, missed the target by centimetres. Shortly after, again after Zaidu ran the wing, Toni Martínez forced Rodrigo Moura to a good save (12m), but the third attempt would finally count. Danny Namaso, who had already scored twice in Chaves for the League Cup, opened the scoreboard with a great play that ended in a beautiful low shot from outside the area, giving the opposing Brazilian goalkeeper no chances (15m).
On the first time Chaves reached the blue and white goal with danger, João Mendes shot slightly over (17m), but goalkeeper Diogo Costa would shine moments later to deny the goal to Jô Batista (23m). In the best moment of the home team in the first half, Euller made the Blue Sea hold their breath (36m), but there would be reasons to celebrate before the break: a great play between Stephen Eustaquio and Otávio ended in a great shot from the international Portuguese midfielder, making it 2-0 for the Dragons on the way to the break (43m).
The start of the second half was particularly difficult for the national champions, who saw Marcano do an out of this world clearance before the ball shot by Euller (50m) went in. In the next play, Zaidu tackled João Mendes in the area and Steven Vitória made it count, reducing the disadvantage for the home team (53m). The blue and white response was swift and almost ended in another goal for Danny Namaso, but Rodrigo Moura save it (64m). When the home team was reduced to ten men, as Jô Batista was sent off (71m), Toni Martínez made it 3-1 in style, but, according to the lines drawn by the VAR, he was 21 cm offside (80m). In stoppage time, the gods of football would still reward the Spanish forward: assistance from Mehdi Taremi and Toni Martínez headed the ball in (90m+6). This time, the goal counted and FC Porto won 3-1.
