Despite the victory in Famalicão (2-1) in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup, “it’s not over yet”

FC Porto is closer to the final of the Portuguese Cup after beating Famalicão (2-1), this Wednesday, at Estádio Municipal de Famalicão, in the 1st leg of the semi-finals. After the match, Pepê reminded that the round is not over, and Toni Martínez, the scorer of the second goal, pointed out the importance of keeping a winning streak to finish season 2022/23. The 2nd leg will be played next week (Thursday, May 4, 20h30) at Estádio do Dragão.

Pepê
“We tried to score in every moment of the match, as we knew it was going to be difficult, given their quality. We got the most important thing, which was the victory, but it’s not over yet and we have another tough match at home. Famalicão showed quality and we weren’t expecting an easy match. Now we will rest because we have another important match for the championship on Sunday. [Pepe said Pepê was the magician of the team] It's an honour, not only for his history in football, but also for his greatness. Having a reference like him talking like that about me just gives me more motivation to repay that trust from him and the fans.”

Toni Martínez
“I'm glad for the opportunity the coach gave me and I tried to prove what I said when I renewed my contract. We will look at everything as a final until the end and we have to keep doing our job. The first half was difficult, but we improved in the second half and got the goal that allowed us to win. It's very important to win, especially away. At home, we will have our fans and it always helps, but we have to be humble and work for another 90 minutes. I have feelings for this team and we play good football, so we have to be aware and prepared. There’s no other way but to win until the end of the season. We will do our job and in the end we will look at the numbers. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my friend Iván Marcano, who today became the defender with the most goals scored in the history of FC Porto. He doesn't talk much, but it's something very important and I'm happy for him.”
