Sérgio Conceição considered the victory in Famalicão (2-1) was “good”, but “this is just half time in the round”

This Wednesday, FC Porto beat Famalicão (2-1), and is in the lead of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup. After the first 90 minutes of the qualifier, Sérgio Conceição believes that the cup holders could have reached “a more comfortable result" had they been more effective “close to the goal”, but the victory “was worth it for what the team and the players did”. The 2nd leg will be played next week (Thursday, May 4, 20h30), at Estádio do Dragão.

The resume of the match
“It's hard to find a match where everything comes out perfectly, but we always look for that, to evolve and to improve. Anyway, we had the competitive attitude that I asked for against a team in an excellent moment, which has played many good matches in the second turn of the championship. We knew the difficulties we were going to face here, which further highlights our victory. Had we been more effective closer to the goal, we could have reached a more comfortable result for the 2nd leg. We haven't won anything yet, but it was worth it for what the team and the players did.”

The changes the match asked for
“Marko [Grujic] was fine in the game, but he had been shown a yellow card and we felt there was a chance for second in a defensive move or reacting to losing the ball. This was the reason Matheus [Uribe] went in and we took the opportunity to place Otávio in the middle, also giving more speed to the wings with Galeno. We changed depending on what the match was asking for. Even though we won 2-1, I strengthened the attack with Mehdi [Taremi] and Evanilson to score the third goal, but we couldn't do it. We won by one goal, it was a good victory and a good performance from the team, but we're still at half time in the round.”

Two more titles to win
“We are a big club, used to moments of pressure. It's part of it. The pressure of always giving our best is always the same, but we work very hard and with great ambition. We want to always be close to perfect, but we face opponents with value. We already won two titles this season and we want to win two more. One depends of us, the other doesn't.”
