After the victory over Shakhtar Donetsk (3-1), in the debut of the Champions League, FC Porto lost this Wednesday to Barcelona (1-0), at Estádio do Dragão, in matchday 2 of Group H. After the Iberian match, Wendell, Alan Varela and Stephen Eustáquio were unanimous as to the unfairness of the result in Porto. After this match, FC Porto has the same three points as Shakhtar Donetsk, both three behind Barcelona.

Wendell
“We played a great game as a team. We proved to be very strong and we spent 90 minutes on top of Barcelona. We had the best opportunities, we had more intensity and we did what we worked on and what the coach asked us to do. I believe we will be able to qualify from the group stage after the game we played today. We must maintain this spirit until the end. The fans are very important to us and supported us during the 90 minutes. We felt their energy on the pitch and with them we are much stronger. I believe we will go far in this Champions League and that we will fight as equals with any team.”

Alan Varela
“It was an unfair defeat. It’s a bitter feeling as we played a great game. We missed that last touch, but we gave everything for this shirt and now it's time to raise our heads for what's left to play. It was a hard-fought game and we deserved more. Now it's time to think about the next game and do our best.”

Eustáquio
“We are frustrated, as we did everything we could to score. In my opinion, I think we deserved to win. Barcelona plays the ball well, but we managed to counter their game in several aspects. It is frustrating to end the game like this, with the opportunities we had, disallowed goals, possible penalties… We are sad, but tomorrow is a new day and we will start preparing the game with Portimonense. In the Champions League, we have two matches against Antwerp next and we want to get the six points, because our goal is to qualify from this group stage.”
