Pepe analysed the blue and white defeat against Estoril for matchday 10 of the League (1-0)

Matchday 10 of the League brought an unexpected outcome at Estádio do Dragão. FC Porto lost to Estoril (1-0) and Pepe, after the end of the match, explained that the team missed “a lot of opportunities in the first half” and made mistakes that cannot happen “at this level”, but stressed that the Dragons tried “until the last minute” and will “raise their heads”, “continue to work” and “listen to the coach” to “overcome” this unfortunate moment: “This is not over yet. It's a delicate moment, but the team has already shown that we can overcome tough times”.

Match analysis
“It was a very important moment for our team as we wanted to continue what we were doing. We missed a lot in the first part, many opportunities. We were warned at half time that we had to pay more attention. A ball we lost ended in a foul, we can't make mistakes like this at this level. We took a hard blow, Estoril scored from a set piece, we tried until the last minute, but couldn't score and now it's time to raise our heads as we have an important game on Tuesday.”

The message for fans
“In the first half we played well, but it's no use creating so many occasions and not being able to score. We could have left for the break with a very favourable result. Football has these things, we have to keep working, we have to apologize to the fans who were here today. This is not over yet, we will continue to work so that we don’t repeat these mistakes in the next games. It’s hard for us and for them, we understand their dissatisfaction. We have to carry on, with the support of our fans until the end because it is very important in what will be a difficult year.”

The focus on what's next
“We will continue to work, listen to the coach and see what we did in the game, good and bad. We weren't the team we usually are. It's a delicate moment, but the team has already shown that we can overcome.”
