FC Porto lost on Friday against Estoril (1-0), at Estádio do Dragão, in the game that opened matchday 10 of the championship. Jordan Holsgrove (75m) scored the goal that defeated the blue and whites, who remain at 22 points.

Sending in the same team that started the match in Vizela, FC Porto went all in on the return home and five minutes in had a penalty called for a tackle of Volnei on Eustáquio in the area. Mehdi Taremi moved to the penalty spot, but the shot of the Iranian international was saved by Marcelo Carné (6m). Despite the early misfortune, the blue and whites continued to press and saw Evanilson shoot just outside the post from good position (10m), while Estoril only reminded they were there in a treacherous cross from Rodrigo Gomes that forced Diogo Costa to a good save (22m).

Always on top, FC Porto again threatened goalkeeper Marcelo Carné in a corner taken by Francisco Conceição, but Pepê missed the target by very little (24m). In another attack for the Dragons, Evanilson shot over after a cross from Francisco Conceição (33m), before Jorge Sánchez almost made it count close to the break (45m+1). Even though they were clearly better than Estoril, the Dragons failed to score in the first half. 

Five minutes into the second half, Francisco Conceição almost scored the first of the night, but Marcelo Carné was on his toes and prevented the winger from scoring (50m). With the clock ticking and the tie remaining, FC Porto never ceased to be dominant and authoritarian. In a rare attack from Estoril, Tiago Martins signalled a penalty for a foul of David Carmo over Guitane, but the VAR corrected the decision, as the tackle occurred outside the area (73m). It wasn’t a penalty, but Jordan Holsgrove beat Diogo Costa in the direct free kick, completely silencing Estádio do Dragão (75m). From there on, FC Porto went all out looking for the tie, but the night was destined to be an unhappy one for the team led by Sérgio Conceição, defeated at home for domestic competitions for the first time since 2023/24.
