Diogo Costa praised the strength of the team after the victory in Guimarães (2-1)

FC Porto reduced the distance to the top of the table to 3 points, thanks to a turnaround in Guimarães. The three points won, over Vitória (2-1), leave the Dragons with the same 25 as Benfica and three behind Sporting on the eve of the derby in Lisbon. After matchday 11, Diogo Costa considered that the players went in “a little hasty”, playing in a pitch where “games are always difficult”, but the “adjustment at half time” made the “second half much better”, allowing the team to “show character” and fulfil the intention of “always going in to win”.

Strength in unity
“Today it was me, in the next game it will be someone else making the difference and that's what makes the team strong. Everyone does their best, we are always looking for victory, we are intense and if we give our best we will be closer to winning.”

The first 45 minutes
“We went in a little hasty, not finding the spaces we should explore, but we made an adjustment at half time and the second half was much better.”

Playing in Guimarães
“The games here are always difficult, it’s a great pitch, a great atmosphere, and we enjoy playing under such conditions. Both teams give it all and in the end the best team wins.”

11 men paying, many more on the outside
“I understand the nerves of those on the bench supporting and helping the team to the fullest. On the pitch, we have to remain calm, composure and show our character.”

The derby at Lisbon
“May the best team win. We are very early into the championship, we will see how it goes.”
