João Mário was happy after scoring the winning goal against Chaves (1-0)

After scoring the goal that allowed FC Porto to end 2023 with a victory over Chaves (1-0), João Mário pointed out that “what mattered” was achieved, but said that there were “opportunities for a bigger result”. "Happy for the first goal and for helping the team to get the three points", the fullback assured that the priority is to "give it all" and contribute "with goals and assists". Pepê explained that he felt "well" and admitted he is aware that there is "a lot to improve" for the team to end "the season with titles", which is the main objective. The Brazilian also thanked the fans for all the support during 2023: “I want to thank the fans for their support throughout the year, which was difficult, but their support helped us a lot on the pitch”.

João Mário
“They are a team that plays in a low block, it's never easy to find room to score goals. We had many opportunities to get a bigger result, but we managed to win and it is the most important thing. We always work to win. When we’re winning 1-0, we always want to score the second and the third and, when we are attacking, we leave ourselves exposed. We will continue to work on a daily basis to improve this as a team. I am happy for my first goal and for helping the team get the three points, which is the most important thing. I want to continue to do my best to help the team, with goals and assists. The team always comes first and I want to work to continue to help.”

Pepê
"We knew that Chaves was coming concerned of defending. It was difficult at first, but the coach talked to us at halftime and we managed to score in the second half. I felt well, but I know I still have a lot to improve. I felt that I could contribute more to the team, we played a nice game and leave with the victory. I hope we can end the season with titles. I want to thank the fans for their support throughout the year, which was difficult, but their support helped us a lot on the pitch.”
