FC Porto beat Estrela da Amadora (2-0) in matchday 22 of the League

FC Porto returned home to a good result, beating Estrela da Amadora 2-0 and reducing the distance to the two rivals from Lisbon, who share the lead of the championship. In matchday 22, at Estádio do Dragão, Galeno scored the first, João Mário the second, the blue and whites got three more points and are now at 48, four behind Sporting (two games in hand) and Benfica (one game in hand).

With Fábio Cardoso (red card) and Wendell (fifth yellow) banned, Sérgio Conceição sent in Otavio and Zaidu in the left of the defence, but the first big moment came in the right wing of the attack, when Francisco Conceição crossed and Evanilson headed for a good save from goalkeeper Bruno Brígido.

Half a dozen minutes later, also in a header, Nico González missed the target, as did Evanilson again in the next attack. The visitors showed what they were coming for before the half hour mark, quickly moving up for the attack, and forcing Zaidu to give everything to make a great cut, but the Nigerian ended up being injured.

Jorge Sánchez was already on the pitch when the stands celebrated: another attack on the right wing, Francisco passed to João Mário, the fullback crossed and Galeno was there to shoot for goal (1-0). The men from Reboleira again reminded they were there, but Diogo Costa did the same and save a high shot. Then, after the Dragons recovered the ball close to the opposing area, Francisco Conceição wasted a perfect opportunity to increase the lead. Until the break, the number 10 again missed the target in a curved shot that went just outside the post.

The second half started a bit slow, but quickly picked up the pace. First, Pepe passed to Galeno for the winger to shoot outside; then, from outside the area, João Mário shot with power and the ball ended in the back of the net (2-0).

Galeno was replaced shortly after, as was Francisco Conceição, being replaced by Gonçalo Borges and Iván Jaime. The Spanish offensive midfielder had a great opportunity to score the third, but hit the goalkeeper. Before the final whistle by referee Tiago Martins, there was still time for Toni Martínez and André Franco to replace Evanilson and Nico González.
