FC Porto beat Santa Clara (2-1) in the Azores and are in the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup

The last 63 minutes didn’t start with the right foot, but FC Porto was able to beat Santa Clara 2-1 at the Estádio de São Miguel in the Azores and qualified for the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup, where they will face Vitória de Guimarães in a two-legged round. Francisco Conceição, the MVP Porto, acknowledged that the Dragons start on the wrong foot, but the reaction was worthy of the Dragons: “The coach asked us to react and start the second half strong. That's what we did and we ended up winning a totally fair victory”, the blue and white winger stated.

The resume of the game
“We knew it was going to be an extremely difficult game here at Santa Clara's home. We had a bad start and they scored in a play where they are usually strong, but you have to praise the character, soul and personality of the team after that. The result is fair, but short, because we could have scored more goals.”

The break was good
“The coach asked us to react and go in strong for the second half. That's what we did and we ended up leaving here with a fair victory.”

Danny Namaso's going in
“Namaso helped, as there were many duels and he is strong in this. He came in to help, just like everyone else. Now it's time to focus on Sunday's game.”

The momentum of the team
"We got a well-deserved victory over Arsenal, but if we had scored all the goals we missed against Gil Vicente, we would be in a different momentum."

The classic against Benfica
“We're going in very confident and we're going to win.”
