António Nobre put on a show and FC Porto lost in Estoril (1-0)
FC Porto is even further away the top of the league after losing in Amoreira, by 1-0, in matchday 27 of the competition. Down to ten men from minute 65, then down to nine from minute 89, and denied a penalty before that, the blue and whites were not able to counter the many adversities and are now ten points behind the lead.
Sérgio Conceição sent in the same team that had beaten Vizela (4-1) and the first to shine was Diogo Costa, seven minutes, to show all the attributes that make him the most valuable goalkeeper in the world. Twenty minutes later, 28 minutes in, Wendell tried from distance, but the shot from the left fullback went outside the right post of the opposing goalkeeper, Marcelo.
Evanilson followed the good example of his countryman, dribbled the goalkeeper and offered the goal to Francisco Conceição, who missed the target in an acrobatic shot. Already close to the break, Galeno also shot over the bar and half time came with the scoreboard intact (0-0).
Galeno aimed for goal from distance right after the resume of the match, a clear penalty from Mangala on Francisco Conceição ended up being reverted by VAR Tiago Martins, a bad pass from Otávio left Diogo Costa exposed and the number 99 ended up being sent-off, Estoril scored in the free-kick given and was close to doing it again in the next counter-attack.
With Jorge Sánchez and Iván Jaime replacing Alan Varela and João Mário, and reduced to ten men, FC Porto continued to attack and never lowered the lines, replacing Nico González and Pepê for Eustáquio and Namaso, but António Nobre was doing all he could to be named MVP.
Not happy with the number of bad decisions he had been showing, the referee from Leiria (who was trashed by the international media due to his ridiculous performance at the Santiago Bernabéu, in the friendly between Spain and Brazil, last Tuesday) sent off Francisco Conceição, showed yellow cards to half of the blue and white team and then called for the end of the match, adding another black page to a long record.
