FC Porto beat Casa Pia (2-1) for matchday 30 of the Portuguese League

FC Porto is back on track with victories in the league and regained the third place, after beating Casa Pia, in Rio Maior, by 2-1. Galeno and Nico González scored the goals that left the blue and whites with the same 62 points as SC Braga.

Sérgio Conceição sent in the same team that played in the second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-final, against Guimarães, and Pepe, the captain, was the first to aim for goal, but his header above everyone else was saved by goalkeeper Ricardo Batista. Nine minutes later, 23m, Pepê hit the top bar with power, just minutes before receiving a pass from João Mário and offering the 1-0 to Galeno.

The disadvantage did not frighten the home team and the response only took six minutes, as Duplexe crossed into the area and Nuno Moreira beat Cláudio Ramos (1-1). The goalkeeper was able secure the tie in stoppage time, twice, with two good saves.

João Mário was replaced at halftime, Pepê moved back to take his place, Romário Baró refreshed the midfield and Galeno, always fresh, moved up alone, but failed to score. Nico González had better aim 55 minutes in, with a shot from the left to the far post, making it 2-1, with his usual class.

Taremi was centimetres away from scoring the third in a free-kick, Cláudio Ramos saved a confusing play in the area, Danny Namaso and Gonçalo Borges replaced Francisco Conceição and Mehdi Taremi. After that, Nico couldn’t make the best of the space granted by an opponent slipping, Gonçalo Borges cut inside and kicked with his left foot, Marko Grujic replaced Alan Varela and referee Manuel Oliveira finally signalled the end of the match and the blue and white victory by 2-1.
