Francisco Conceição, Evanilson and Mehdi Taremi scored in the victory of FC Porto in Trás-os-Montes (3-0)

This Saturday, FC Porto beat Chaves (3-0), at the Estádio Municipal Eng. Manuel Branco Teixeira, in matchday 32 of the championship. Francisco Conceição (27m) Evanilson (45m+1) and Mehdi Taremi (73m), from a penalty, scored the goals of the Dragons, who remain third in the table, now with 66 points.

With only two changes in the team in comparison to the one that started the classic against Sporting, FC Porto took some time before being able to dismantle the Chaves’ defensive organization and truth is that it only came in a set piece. In a masterful free-kick at the edge of the area, Francisco Conceição gave goalkeeper Rodrigo Moura no chance to save it and opened the scoreboard in Trás-os-Montes in style (27m). On the next minute, Junior Pius saw the second yellow card and red and left the home team outnumbered (28m).

Close to halftime, João Mendes could have made it 2-0 with a beautiful shot in the heart of the area, but the VAR was able to see an offside of the left wingback at the start of the play (42m). But the second was coming: after recovering the ball high on the pitch , Pepê passed to Mehdi Taremi and the forward pushed it forward to Evanilson, who made it count on his 150th game as a Dragon (45m+1). An excellent attack of the Dragons to give greater comfort to the lead just before referee José Bessa signalled the break.

The first dangerous play of the second half belonged to Chaves, but Héctor Hernández's header went slightly over the top bar (50m). In the response, Francisco Conceição did a perfect cross, but Pepê was also unable to make it count (52m). With absolute control of the game, FC Porto didn’t stop looking for more goals and, in one of the several attempts of the Dragons, Pepê was tackled in the area and the referee didn’t hesitate in pointing at the penalty spot. Called to take it, Mehdi Taremi didn’t hesitate and made it 3-0 (73m). And the final note goes for the fact that Sérgio Conceição promoted another debut in the main team of FC Porto: Gonçalo Sousa.
