FC Porto lost in Alvalade in matchday 4 of the League (2-0)
FC Porto conceded the first goals and the first defeat on matchday four. After three victories in the championship and another in the Super Cup, against the same opponent, the Dragons lost 2-0 away thanks to a penalty taken by Gyokeres and a goal by Catamo in the final minutes of a classic guided by balance for 70 minutes.
Vítor Bruno repeated the team that had beaten Rio Ave (2-0), with Galeno remaining in the left of the defence. Vasco Sousa continued to work in the engine room and the young Portuguese international midfielder had the first chance, shooting just outside goalkeeper Kovacevic's right post.
The home team replied with the usual suspect, before the 30 minutes mark, in a shot at the side net that didn’t scare the Dragons, only the home fans. Gyokeres was Sporting's main offensive weapon, Diogo Costa kept FC Porto's goal closed - despite the handful of opportunities for Sporting - and, just before the break, Galeno appeared on the opposite wing to force the opposing goalkeeper to a save, given the danger created by the Brazilian international.
The Lions returned better for the second half, they were very close to scoring soon after the resume of the match, were it not for a great clearance from Otavio on the touch line, saving the untimely exit of Diogo Costa, Galeno attempted a reply in a long range shot that forced the Kovacevic to a great save, but the goal only came from a penalty: Gyokeres got the ball, ran meters, Otavio tackled him and the Swedish forward took the penalty, making it 1-0.
Losing for the first time since the Super Cup, Vítor Bruno did four substitutions, removing Danny Namaso, Iván Jaime, Vasco Sousa and Martim Fernandes, and sendingin Samu, Gonçalo Borges, Eustáquio and João Mário. Soon after, Fran Navarro replaced Alan Varela, but the scoreboard would only move again thanks to Catamo's shot, which confirmed that the three points would really stay in Lisbon.
