Samu scored two and Pepê confirmed FC Porto's victory in Guimarães (3-0)
FC Porto passed one of the most demanding tests of the season with distinction. In Guimarães, against Vitória SC, the blue and whites spent 45 minutes realizing the difficulty of the task, Vítor Bruno made the necessary adjustments at half time and the team came through in the second half, courtesy of a superb Samu Omorodion who won a place in the starting team (and in the hearts of the fans) and Pepê, who closed the result at 3-0.
The first half was more fought than well played, as there were interruptions and no dangerous plays. The first chance only came halfway through the first half, a header in a corner-kick that deserved better. 27 minutes in, João Mário and Nico González paired well, but the header of the Spanish midfielder went outside. The same happened with his countryman Samu, in the last shot of the first half, another header without power or direction that perfectly summed up 45 minutes with little football played, but full of interruptions.
Vítor Bruno kept Zé Pedro, Eustáquio and Samu, instead of Otavio, Iván Jaime and Danny Namaso, and the bet paid off at the start of the second half, when Samu successfully headed a cross from João Mário and opened the scoreboard in Guimarães (1-0).
A player with his physique is difficult to satiate, so Samu scored again not even 15 minutes later, after an excellent pass from Francisco Moura that deserved to be finished by the Spanish forward, a forward that seems as intelligent as he is big. Winning 2-0, the blue and white coach replaced those that seemed to be tired the most, namely Eustáquio and Samu, and sent in Marko Grujic and Namaso.
Before referee Fábio Veríssimo called to the end of the match, the home team had time to attempt a reaction, albeit timid, but Pepê made it 3-0 in a play worthy of a true striker that earned him the ovation of the night when he was replaced, together with Nico, by Gonçalo Borges and Vasco Sousa.
