FC Porto beat Arouca (4-0) in matchday 7 of the championship

FC Porto returned home and to good results. After a good victory in Guimarães and a bitter debut in the Europa League, the blue and whites beat Arouca at home, 4-0, in matchday 7 of the Portuguese League. Playing against ten men from minute 43 and pushed by the 44,000 fans on the stands of Estádio do Dragão, the Dragons had a high level second half and beat an opponent against whom they had lost points in the last championship. Samu scored for the fourth consecutive game, Nico returned to goals, Galeno scored his fifth in the Portuguese League and Deniz Gül celebrated for the first time in blue and white.

Vítor Bruno sent in Vasco Sousa, Alan Varela, Pepê and Galeno, replacing Marko Grujic, Eustáquio, Iván Jaime and Gonçalo Borges, who had played in Norway, and the Argentinian midfielder was the first to aim for goal, but the shot went as strong as it was high. The opponent didn’t take long to respond, moving up from the left wing and causing chills to the home fans. After Nico González did the same as Varela, Francisco Moura crossed wide, João Mário passed to Pepê and the Brazilian international winger hit an opponent with only the goal ahead.

The blue and white started to burn brighter from there, Samu was more in the game, and made a warning with his right foot, but the main highlight of the first half came 43 minutes in, when Yalçin stepped on Varela and ended up sent-off for double yellows. The red card had two consequences: a good free-kick that almost ended with a goal for Zé Pedro and the beginning of warm-up exercises of Fábio Vieira, Rodrigo Mora, André Franco, Iván Jaime and Deniz Gül.

The Swedish forward replaced Vasco Sousa for the second half and four minutes were enough for Samu to open the scoreboard in a play in the small area. Losing 1-0, Arouca tried to play short, but Nico González anticipated a pass coming from the goalkeeper and scored the second goal of the night with only the goalkeeper ahead (2-0). The third came soon after, after the corner-kick taken by Varela found Galeno, who headed at the far post (3-0).

Right after the goal, the number 13 and Varela were replaced by Fábio Vieira and Eustáquio, and Samu was close to his second, but the shot ended up in the side net. With André Franco replacing Nico and Rodrigo Mora taking Pepê's place, and after Fábio Vieira shot with power and forced Mantl to a good save, Deniz Gül scored his first with the blue and white jersey, increasing the count to four and confirming a big victory in a game in which the fans feared the worst.
