Vítor Bruno has no doubt that the break "was important" to beat Arouca (4-0)
"It was a more difficult first half", as Vítor Bruno said, but the second half was completely different and FC Porto ended up beating Arouca comfortably (4-0), in matchday 7 of the Portuguese League. "The first half was more divided, but, in the second, with Arouca down to 10 men, we did what we had to do. We were more intense, sharp and more intentional", the coach continued, then pointing at the upcoming match against Manchester United, for the Europa League: "At FC Porto all games are special and we always have to win".
Two different halves
"It was a more difficult first half against an opponent who plays well and has quality with the ball. We had two or three dangerous plays during the first half and one of them was clear, but, against 10 men, we were pushier in the second half. Half time changes were important, as we had more acuteness and intentionality in the attack. We deserved to win against a difficult opponent.”
Intensity, acuteness and intentionality
“Arouca had a lot of people in the middle, which made our pressure in the first half difficult. Still, I don't recall any clear situation for Arouca. The first half was more divided, but, in the second, with Arouca down to 10 men, we did what we had to do. We were more intense, sharper, and more intentional.”
Still the European aftermath
“I don't think the team was nervous, even when faced with the fans' impatience. They want to be winning from the first minute and so do I, but we must not forget that the team comes from a long, tiring journey and a European game that harmed us. We looked at the game with the right mentality, allowed no danger, scored four goals and conceded none. I'm very pleased with the players.”
The big three had big wins on this matchday
“There are teams that create certain difficulties and other teams that create other types of difficulties, but the teams are very leveled, except for the big three and also SC Braga. Arouca is a very capable team and will create difficulties for opponents, including the big ones. There are opponents that have their own specificities and there are people with value and who work well on the other side."
The debut of Fábio Vieira
“He will add value, but they all do, each in their own way. Some are more brilliant, others less, but the important thing is that they work as a team.”
Manchester United is coming
"At FC Porto all games are special and we always have to win."
