FC Porto joins global leader in sustainable certification

The FC Porto Museum and Dragão Stadium are proud to join EarthCheck, the world’s leading scientific benchmarking, certification and advisory group for sustainable travel and tourism. As the first sports organisation in Portugal and Europe to achieve EMAS certification, FC Porto continues to set an inspiring example of dedication to sustainability. This is another important step for the club in promoting Porto and the Northern Region of Portugal as destinations committed to sustainability, while adopting environmentally friendly practices across all of FC Porto's operations.

EarthCheck is a globally recognised authority that evaluates and certifies sustainable tourism destinations and businesses. By joining the EarthCheck Certified program, FC Porto aims to strengthen its reputation in the field of sustainability, adding a new level of recognition for the FC Porto Museum and Dragão Stadium as sustainable sports venues.

To achieve EarthCheck certification, FC Porto is collaborating with the support of IPDT – Institute for Tourism Planning and Development. The certification process includes meeting rigorous, science-based criteria, along with independent auditor who will carefully assess both technical and operational procedures. This journey offers FC Porto an exciting opportunity to demonstrate its leadership in responsible tourism.

The EarthCheck Certified program is set to enhance the visitor experiences offered at the FC Porto Museum and Dragão Stadium, which are among the top attractions in Porto and the Northern Region of Portugal. By embracing sustainability, FC Porto aligns itself with a global community of iconic tourism brands, including the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, Xcaret, Capella Hotels & Resorts, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), and the Olympic host city of Brisbane, all of which have successfully partnered with EarthCheck.
