Dragons matched Borussia Dortmund in the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sports ranking

FC Porto is the most sustainable club in the world alongside Borussia Dortmund, according to the global sustainability ranking prepared by the Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sports (GSBS) for the year 2024. Dragons and Germans emerge with an 80% rating - they are the only clubs with a “Gold” performance - behind Formula E, the leader, with 85%.

The blue and whites improved 1% compared to the previous ranking made available by GSBS, an evaluation that goes up to 100 and that is the result of a global balance of four main areas under analysis: Corporate, environment, social and Governance. 86%, 72%, 79% and 82% were the results obtained in each of the parameters, respectively.

Christian Hartmann, CEO of GSBS, stated that “FC Porto impressed the team” that produced the “only internationally recognized and respected sustainability index in the sports industry” for its “strategic approach to sustainability” and “solidified its position as a world leader”.

For this outcome, we weighed “the comprehensive, well-executed process, coupled with a robust availability of data, an unwavering commitment to tangible, data-driven progress, and a dedication to meaningful action” that led the Dragons to the “runner-up position.”
