Eustáquio believes the classic against Sporting (1-0) could have had a different outcome

FC Porto missed the qualification to the League Cup final after losing to Sporting (1-0), this Tuesday, in Leiria, in the semi-finals of the competition. Feeling that the Dragons started the classic well, especially “in terms of strategy”, Stephen Eustáquio believes that “the team should have been more accurate” in the attack, especially because the blue and white team has “enough quality to do more”. “However, we have a very important game in Madeira that can give us the first place, which is where we should be. The championship is the ultimate and main objective”, the Canadian international star concluded.

A resume of the game
“In terms of strategy, we went in well and were able to find the spaces Sporting opened, but we should have been more accurate close to the area. They had their opportunities too, but, at half time, I felt that the game was ours to grab and that we had enough quality to win it. They ended up scoring on a deflection and from there things became more difficult.”

More heart than head
“In the first half, we were getting close to their area well, but we should have been more accurate, we have enough quality to do more. We ended up not scoring, time passed and Sporting started to get more comfortable in the game. They came back strong for the second half, scored and we chased it, but more with our hearts than with our heads.”

Focus on the championship
“We already have the Super Cup in our pocket and I leave this game with the full confidence that we will beat our rivals at home in the second turn of the championship. However, we have a very important game in Madeira that can give us the first place, which is where we should be. The championship is the ultimate and main objective.”
