Tiago Djaló believes the team could have controlled the game better in the 3-2 defeat in Rome
A 3-2 defeat at the Olimpico in Rome, in the second leg of the playoff to qualify to the Round of 16 of the Europa League, meant the end of FC Porto's European run in 2024/25. Highlighting the Dragons' good start, Tiago Djaló believes that “after we scored the first goal, we didn't control the game well, especially in the back”. From now on, the team has to “give our best until the end”, “keep working and focus on the league”, the central defender added.
A resume of the game
“We started well, the team had some good moments, but, after we scored the first goal, we didn't control the game well, especially in the back. They took their chances, but I have my doubts that it wasn't a foul in the second goal. I think there was a contact with my teammate. Playing with one man less made things even more difficult for us. We gave everything we could, the team tried, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.”
An unfortunate outcome
“The team deserved more, especially for the first half, but now we have to keep working and focus on the league games.”
FC Porto to the end
“We have to give our best until the end, the team has to think like that. We're grateful for the support of the fans and now we have to hold our heads high.”
