Alan Varela praised the Dragons' defensive solidity in the victory over Arouca (2-0)
FC Porto returned to victories in the league on Saturday, beating Arouca (2-0) at the Municipal de Arouca, in matchday 24 of the competition. Alan Varela, the League MVP, saw the Dragons play “very well” in the first half and “very solid” in the second, so they can only be “very happy with this win”.
The importance of the victory
“We were in a very negative streak, so we needed to win and the team showed character. In the first half we played very well, we created several chances, but they also had theirs. In the second half we were very solid in the defence. We're very happy with this win.”
The MVP award
“It's true that it's an individual award, but it's still a collective one. The team's effort makes you do your best and I'm very happy with the award and the victory.”
