Alan Varela praised Cláudio Ramos, “one of the captains and a reference” in the squad

“We always play to win, it's not the result we wanted, but we knew we were going to face a very demanding opponent who is halfway through the season.” Aware of the different moments that FC Porto and Palmeiras are going through, Alan Varela admitted that “fatigue made life a bit difficult” in the 0-0 tie that saw the Dragons make their debut in the Club World Cup, but assured that the team “fought to the end as this club demands”.

“Very happy” with the performance of Cláudio Ramos, “one of the captains and a reference” who “did very well” by “saving several important shots”, the number 22 has already set his sights on the clash with Inter Miami (Thursday, 20h00, TVI) which “is also going to be difficult” and said: “We'll prepare for it in the best possible way”.

A fair result
"We always play to win, it's not the result we wanted, but we knew we were up against a very demanding opponent who is halfway through the season, while we're already in the final stretch. Fatigue made life a bit difficult for us, but we fought to the end as this club demands."

The different moments the teams are going through
"We noticed the difference, but we gave everything we had and played as equals. Sometimes things don't go your way."

Cláudio Ramos
"Everyone knows what Diogo gives us, he's one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so it was a shame that he got injured, but Cláudio did very well, he saved several important shots and that makes us happy because we know how Cláudio works, he's one of the captains and a reference. We're very happy for him."

Eyes on Inter Miami
"We're always going to play to win, we know that the next game is going to be difficult too, not least because this tournament features the best players in the world and there are no easy games. We'll prepare for the next game in the best possible way."
