The tie against Al Ahly (4-4) led to the elimination from the Club World Cup
FC Porto conceded a 4-4 tie against Al Ahly and was eliminated from the Club World Cup. Rodrigo Mora, William Gomes, Samu and Pepê scored in New Jersey for the Dragons, who end Group A in the third place, behind Palmeiras and Inter Miami.
Eustáquio, William Gomes and Danny Namaso were in the starting team and saw Rodrigo Mora come close to scoring just before Wessam Abou Ali opened the scoreboard (0-1). The Brazilian winger hit the post 19 minutes in, Mora needed only five more minutes to tie (1-1), but, in stoppage time, the number 9 of the Egyptian scored his second from the penalty spot (1-2).
Samu and Gonçalo Borges replaced Danny Namaso and Alan Varela for the second half and the latter only needed five minutes to assist William Gomes, who made it 2-2 with his right foot. Abou Ali responded immediately (3-2), but Samu tied it again following a corner taken by Fábio Vieira on the following minute (3-3, 52m).
Martim Fernandes replaced João Mário 62 minutes in and Bem Romdhane made it 4-3 64 minutes in, just before Gabri Veiga and Pepê were sent in. After Samu missed the target, Pepê had better aim and closed the scoreboard with a shot from outside the area (4-4).
