Graphically represented by the number 2 - the one that most symbolizes Jorge Costa’s career - squaring something is an example of exponentiation: a number multiplied by itself.

In tonight’s match against Vitória de Guimarães at Estádio do Dragão, all FC Porto players will take the field with squared numbers, as a symbol of what is being asked of each of them: that their quality be amplified.

FC Porto coach Francesco Farioli had already hinted at this idea in the pre-match press conference, asking for more from each player: “Readiness to compete is not something that appears today, tomorrow, or the next day - it’s something that must always be present. We must follow Jorge’s example, his passion for the Club, and try to show his DNA out on the pitch.”

The number 2 will thus appear on every jersey in a symbolic representation of the exponential effort expected from each Dragon. As if in every position on the pitch there weren’t just one player, but two. Not just their ability, but their ability amplified - squared.
