FC Porto beat Casa Pia 4-0 in matchday three of the Portuguese League

FC Porto continued their positive start to the championship by beating Casa Pia 4-0 in a one-sided game at home where the result did justice to the performance. Borja Sainz (two), William Gomes and Nehuén Pérez scored the goals for Porto in front of 49,045 spectators at Estádio do Dragão.

Faced with the absences of Pepê and Samu due to injury, Francesco Farioli opted for William Gomes and Luuk de Jong from the start, and the Brazilian winger came close to scoring seven minutes in after a recovery by Alan Varela, but the opposing goalkeeper made a good save. The tie was short-lived, as, after another interception in the attacking third, this time by Victor Froholdt, the Danish midfielder passed to Borja Sainz and the Spanish winger deflected the ball into the back of the net (1-0).

26 minutes in, William did it all by himself (and well): he received the ball on the right wing, dribbled past all the opponents in his path and placed the ball near the far post before dedicating the 2-0 to Pepê. After Borja set up Gabri Veiga and the number 10 forced Patrick Sequeira into another save, Alan Varela shot from distance and hit the post with a bang, setting the tone for the third goal of the afternoon - a deflection by Nehuén Pérez with his heel after the shots from Varela, in the first instance, and Alberto Costa, on the rebound (3-0).

Francisco Moura replaced Zaidu after the break and Alberto Costa narrowly missed the target following a one-two with Victor Froholdt, who ended up being replaced along with William when both had already been booked - Eustáquio and Mora went in. The match became a beating 67 minutes in, when the opposing defence lost possession in the back and Borja Sainz made no mistake in scoring his second (4-0).

With the outcome long since decided and the statistics showing the blue and white superiority (10-0 in goal opportunities), Zé Pedro and Dominik Prpic went in for Jan Bednarek and Alberto Costa, and Diogo Costa remained an attentive spectator in his 200th game for his beloved club, his 86th without conceding a goal. On Saturday, there is a classic match at Alvalade (20h30, Sport TV1).
