FC Porto beat Estoril (1-0) in the 12th matchday of the League

On the night of the debut of the new lighting system at Estádio do Dragão, William Gomes gave FC Porto three points in the 12th matchday of the League (1-0). With the goal from the number 7 - curiously scored just seconds after the seventh minute - the clear leaders of the championship maintained their status and now have 34 points.

As in the first eleven matchdays, the blue and whites went on the attack and Samu even put the ball in the North goal when he received a pass from Francisco Moura, chipped Joel Robles and tapped it into the back of the net, but the striker was flagged for offside and the score remained nil-nil... for ten seconds: after a free kick was taken near the area, the opponent only managed to make one more pass before William Gomes intercepted the ball and shot across goal to make it 1-0.

Without taking their foot off the gas, but alert to the danger that Estoril were causing near Diogo Costa's goal, Porto came very close to extending their lead in the 25th minute. Rodrigo Mora, on the left, left it to Francisco Moura to cross to the far post, William Gomes' shot was intercepted and ended up at the feet of Borja Sainz who, already in the heart of the six-yard box, saw his shot deflected away from the goal by Felix Bacher.

With a narrow lead at half time, Francesco Farioli brought on Zaidu to replace Francisco Moura, who had already been booked, at the start of the second half and saw the full-back start a vertical move down the left that ended with Borja trying to assist Samu and Joel Robles denying the 2-0 (47m) before bringing on Gabri Veiga and Martim Fernandes to replace Rodrigo Mora and Alberto Costa.

Luuk de Jong replaced Samu in the 67th minute, Eustáquio came on shortly after it was announced that there were 45,092 fans in the stands, Bednarek became the hero and prevented the equaliser in injury time, and the score remained unchanged until referee André Narciso blew the final whistle (1-0).
