Ángel Alarcón called for a “full stadium for the first training session of the year” after the victory against AFS (2-0).

“The team really wanted to win” and managed to take all three points against AFS (2-0) on matchday 16 of the league. Brought on in the second half to replace William Gomes, Ángel Alarcón explained that he works “every day to get these minutes and be able to enjoy myself on the pitch in front of the fans” before revealing that he had to change his mindset to assert himself in the choices of “a technical team that values intensity and work ethic very highly”: “I thank the coach for allowing me to play, and whenever I come on, I will continue to give my all. When I first arrived, he told me I had to go to the B team, which was always difficult to accept. I realized that talent isn't everything and that I had to work hard and give much more.”

Three important points
“The team really wanted to win, and fortunately, we did.”

Precious minutes on the field
“I work every day to get these minutes and enjoy myself on the field in front of the fans. I am grateful to the coach for allowing me to play, and whenever I come on, I will continue to give my all.”

The upward trajectory
“When I first arrived, I was told I had to join the B team, which is always difficult to accept. I really wanted to succeed here at FC Porto and I realized I had to work harder and give much more. The coach also explained this to me and, during an international break, I took advantage of this tip to improve my contribution. Now I want to work hard and continue on this path.”

The differences between the two main divisions
“I think there is more football played in the Primeira Liga, in the Segunda there is a much more direct game. They are two different styles. I prefer to play here a lot. It is much easier to play here, practice my football, and create scoring opportunities.”

Work above all else
“I realized that talent isn't everything. We have to work hard, especially with this coaching staff, which values intensity and work ethic. For my teammates on the B team who want to make it to the main squad, I advise them to work much harder than the others.”

An objective come true
“When I arrived last year, I told my father that I wanted to play here. A year and a half later, I'm achieving that and I hope this isn't the last game.”

The chance to score
“The next ball has to go in.”

New Year's training
“We hope to have a full stadium on the first day of the year and that the fans give us a lot of support so we can continue like this in the second half of the season.”
