Jan Bednarek scored and was named MVP in FC Porto's victory at CD Nacional (0-1)
FC Porto beat CD Nacional (0-1) on Sunday at Estádio da Choupana in matchday 22 of the League, returning to victories in the competition, in which they remain the sole leaders. Jan Bednarek said he was “very happy” to have scored the only goal of the match, was voted MVP of the League, and stressed that the Dragons have to “win these games and move on.” After the most recent results and Samu's injury, to whom he dedicated his header and the victory, the Polish centre back praised his teammates' bravery: “The guys were brave and we deserved the victory today.”
Three more points
“It was very difficult, especially considering all the constraints. It was one of those games we had to win and go home. The first half was more evenly matched, but we had our chances to score. In the second half, we started well, and I am very happy to have scored, to have helped the team, and to have kept a clean sheet. We have to win these games and go home.”
Gabri Veiga's perfect corner
“I told him to give me a good ball, but the truth is that we work a lot on these plays in training. It's excellent work by the coaching staff and we can only be happy with what they do for us. So far, it's going well, but we have to keep going.”
The last two games and Samu's injury
“Two of the last two games and Samu's injury, we wanted to dedicate this victory to him, he deserved it. It's a difficult time for him, but he'll come back stronger. In the last game we played well and it was a shame we conceded a goal in the last minute. Then came Samu's injury, but the guys were brave and we deserved the victory today.”
A leader in every sense of the word
“Regardless of how many of us there are, we always have to be 11 leaders on the field.”
