FC Porto faced Benfica in the 25th matchday of the League (2-2)

FC Porto tied at Estádio da Luz (2-2) and remains at the top of the table with a four-point lead over Sporting (62) and seven over Benfica (59) on matchday 25 of the championship.

Francesco Farioli changed six players in the starting eleven that played at Alvalade - Jakub Kiwior, Martim Fernandes, Victor Froholdt, Gabri Veiga, Oskar Pietuszewski, and Deniz Gül started in the positions occupied by Pablo Rosario, Francisco Moura, Seko Fofana, Rodrigo Mora, William Gomes, and Terem Moffi in the Cup - and one of those bets opened the scoring early on.

Just 10 minutes in, following a pass from Deniz Gül, Alan Varela isolated Victor Froholdt and the Danish international midfielder opened the scoring with a rebound from a shot initially saved by Trubin (0-1).

In the only occasion he had to make a save in the first half, Diogo Costa made a great save from a cross deflected by Martim Fernandes. The Dragons extended their lead in the 40th minute: Gabri Veiga played a long ball to Oskar Pietuszewski and the Polish winger had space to run with the ball and the class to finish (0-2).

At the end of the first half, Gabri Veiga came close to adding a goal to his assist, but Benfica's goalkeeper saved the free kick taken by FC Porto's number 10. The Spanish midfielder came off at half time along with Pepê, who had also been booked, and was replaced by Seko Fofana and William Gomes. With Francisco Moura and Borja Sainz replacing Martim Fernandes and Oskar Pietuszewski, the home side reduced the deficit through Schjelderup (1-2).

Deniz Gül forced Trubin into action shortly after, before being replaced by Terem Moffi. Borja Sainz and William Gomes continued to create dangerous situations for the Red defence, and Alberto Costa received a yellow card that will keep him out of the match against Moreirense (March 15, 20h30). Leandro Barreiro tied the match in the 88th minute (2-2), and referee João Pinheiro signalled the end of the match shortly after.
