Victor Froholdt scored a stunning goal to seal the win for FC Porto against VfB Stuttgart (2-0)

FC Porto will face Nottingham Forest in the Europa League quarter-finals after beating VfB Stuttgart again (2-0), this time at Estádio do Dragão, in the second leg of the Round of 16. Victor Froholdt came off the bench at the start of the second half and provided the highlight of the night: “It was a great goal, no doubt about it,” acknowledged the Danish international midfielder, who says he is “ready, focused and prepared to give everything for the team”. “My batteries are fully recharged,” added the number 8, who made no secret of the fact that FC Porto wants to “go far in this competition”.

A superb left-footed goal
“It was a great goal, no doubt about it.”

A high-quality opponent
“We faced a top-flight Bundesliga team, so we knew we had to put on a great performance. We struggled at times, but we have to be proud of the two games we played. Today we defended very well and were clinical in our transitions. We have to be proud of what we did.”

The Germans’ complaints after the first leg
“I didn’t even know they’d complained about us, as we don’t focus on those things, we focus on the game and the things we can control.”

Is it possible to reach the final?
“It’s a realistic objective, but there are still plenty of games to go and we’ll need to be very strong to make it to the final. We want to go far in this competition, but, when the time comes, we’ll need to prepare very well for the two matches against Nottingham Forest.”

My batteries are fully recharged
“Sometimes you need a rest, and it was good to have slowed the pace down. My batteries are fully recharged and I’m ready, focused and prepared to give my all for the team.”
