FC Porto tied 2-2 against FC Famalicão on matchday 28 of the Portuguese League

FC Porto was leading until the 90+9th minute, but ended up conceding a tie to FC Famalicão on matchday 28 of the league (2-2). With this result against the fifth in the table, the Dragons now lead the table by five points over Sporting Lisbon, who has a game in hand.

Francesco Farioli made three changes to the starting team that faced Braga – Alberto Costa, Rodrigo Mora and Terem Moffi in the positions occupied by Martim Fernandes, Gabri Veiga and Deniz Gül – but it was the visitors who started better and had a couple of chances to open the scoring – first through Sorriso, saved by Diogo Costa, and then through Gustavo Sá, but the midfielder, a former Dragon, lacked accuracy.

After half an hour in which Famalicão had the upper hand, the Dragons stepped up a gear and came close to scoring when Zaidu broke clear, set up Moffi and his compatriot hit the opposing goalkeeper. The deadlock was broken shortly afterwards: Rodrigo Mora crossed, Carevic headed it down, Alberto Costa won the second ball, Moffi controlled it and the right-back fired it into the back of the net (1-0).

By half-time, there had been a chance for each side. FC Porto’s chance began with Diogo Costa, went through to Rodrigo Mora and ended with Pepê, who shot over the bar. At the other end of the pitch, it was Gustavo Sá who once again tested the home captain’s reflexes. Just before the break, Mora went off with an injury and was replaced by Seko Fofana.

Martim Fernandes and William Gomes replaced Zaidu and Oskar Pietuszewski at half-time, and it was the Brazilian winger who initiated the first dangerous move of the second half, a long-range shot from Fofana that skimmed past the left post of the South goal. In response, Rafa Soares crossed, Elisou headed, Diogo Costa saved, and Sorriso equalised from the rebound (1-1).

Having just come on for Moffi, Deniz Gül was pulled down inside the box in the 67th minute, but none of the match officials deemed the challenge a foul. With Borja Sainz now on the pitch and Pepê on the bench, Seko Fofana left all his opponents in his wake to make it 2-1, but the visitors struck back again to level the score in the final minute of stoppage time (2-2).
