Vaná came in time to officially become national champion in 2017/18

As he was called to the starting team in matchday 34 of Liga NOS, Vaná officially became national champion in 2017/18 against Vitória de Guimarães. Having arrived in FC Porto last summer, coming from Feirense, the Brazilian goalkeeper praised the family that welcomed him with open arms.

“Work is the word that best defines our group. I arrived at FC Porto during the pre-season and the work was already intense. Work, respect, and union were the basis of our group. The discipline set by the coach and the way he made each element in the group feel important was also essential to get where we got. It was a season with a lot of work and effort, but, in the end, we were rewarded”, Vaná stated, talking exclusively to fcporto.pt, and adding the first season as a Dragon was “fantastic”.

“It’s fantastic to sign for FC Porto, be welcomed, feel that you are part of a great group and end the season as champion. It gives you more confidence for the next season, but, at the same time, it adds responsibility to win the championship again. But I’m glad I have that responsibility. Now it’s time to rest and to return strong next season. I am happy and thankful that I became a champion for FC Porto”, the Brazilian goalkeeper continued, not forgetting the role of the fans in the title.

“I dedicate this victory to God, to my family, friends, and, obviously, to the incredible Blue Sea, which I will always keep in my heart and mind”, Vaná admitted, revealing he is also a fan of the FC Porto Museum: “The Museum is gorgeous and it is impossible not to be excited inside. I am happy and proud to be part of the amazing history of such a great club”.

Until the end of May, fcporto.pt will be publishing statements from the players and coaches that helped FC Porto win the trophy of National Champions in 2017/18.
