In short, everyone was happy with matchday two in Group D of the Champions League, which FC Porto won 1-0 at home.
Maxi
“It was a match with many opportunities. In the second-half, we did better and created more opportunities. I am pleased with the result and the fight. I believe we deserved this victory. We see the group as competitive, but we’re thinking match by match. We can’t lose points at home and it’s always important to win.”
Alex Telles
“I’m pleased to have helped the team with another assistance, but it came from the work we did during the week. It was worthy of the Champions League, a difficult match, and these three points are important for us. We need to improve some things and we have many matches ahead, but we are pleased. We work hard to do what the coach asks of us. We know our potencial and the skill of our forwards. In the second-half, we did better and won in all fairness.”
Danilo
“This victory feels great. We always want to be on top, no matter the competition. We showed we are a good team and favourite to win the group, but we need to keep this up. At home, our audience is the first one to touch the ball and the team gets emotionally strong. I feel physically well, even if I did felt the fatigue by the end of it. We will have a difficult match in Russia, next week, but we are going there with the intent to win.”
Herrera
“It was an important victory. “We wanted to be strong in the first match and get the three points. At home, we can’t lose points and we need to win every match away. I believe the team rose to the demand of the match. Like the coach says, matches last until the lost minute, and sometimes you can win or lose in that minute. Focus must remain at the max. Now we get to enjoy the victory, which we deserved, and think of what’s next. Passing the captain armband to Danilo was a special moment for me, as I really like him, as a person and as a player.”
